FOUR NAMED TO NORTHEAST-10 WINTER/SPRING ALL-ACADEMIC TEAMS
SOUTH EASTON, MA- Seniors Kiryl Shada (Pleasant Prairie, WI/Tremper) from softball and Natalija Subotic (Bradenton, FL/Edison Academic) from for women's tennis team along with sophomore golfer Kent St. Charles (Wells, ME/Wells) were named to the 2009 Spring All-Academic Team for their respective sports. Sophomore Callie Grace (Dalton, MA/Miss Halls) was named to the Northeast-10 Conference Women's Swimming and Diving All-Academic Team for the winter sports.
Shada finished with a 3.66 GPA for her four years in the classroom as a Psychology major, being named to the NE-10 All-Academic Team for a third straight year. On the diamond this past season, she went 13-12 with a 2.22 ERA. Shada struck out 125 batters in 158 innings pitched, finishing ninth in the NE-10 in ERA, fourth in innings pitched, seventh in strikeouts, and was tied for fourth in wins. She was a back-to-back NE-10 Second Team All-Conference selection in 2008 and 2009. Shada finished her career second in school history in wins, shutouts and strikeouts, third in innings pitched and complete games, and sixth in ERA.
Subotic finished her collegiate career with a 3.83 GPA as an international Management major for the last four years, earning NE-10 All-Academic honors in 2007, 2008 and 2009. On the court this past season, she posted a 9-1 record at #1 Singles on her way to a Northeast-10 Second Team selection. For her four-year career, she was 49-5 at #1 Singles. A three-time Second Team NE-10 selection, Subotic was named 2006 NE-10 Freshman of the Year. In 2008, she was a First Team NE-10 selection at #1 Singles, earning Player of the Year honors.
St. Charles posted a cumulative 3.64 GPA through the Spring 2009 semester. This past season, he averaged 78 strokes per round in 11 tournaments this season. Posted four top-10 finishes on the year, including tying for first place at the Dowling Shootout on September and taking second place at the River Hawk Invitational in April. In addition, St. Charles was selected to compete as an individual at the NCAA D2 East Regional, where he finished in 51st place.
In the classroom, Grace posting 3.86 Cumulative GPA as Psychology Major through the Spring 2009 semester. In the pool, Grace set five individual school records in the 50-,100-, and 200-yard freestyle events as well as in the 100-and 200-yard breaststroke. In addition, she was also part of two relay school records in the 200-yard freestyle and the 200-yard medley relay. At the NE-10, posted three top-10 finishes in the 200-yard breaststroke, 100-yard freestyle and 100-yard breaststroke, while taking 12th place in the 200-yard freestyle. Grace was also part of the fifth place 400-yard freestyle relay team and the fifth place 200-yard medley relay.
