SETTERS RALLY LATE, LISCINSKY'S CLUTCH HIT LIFTS SETTERS TO VICTORY

PLEASANTVILLE, NY- Freshman Andre Liscinsky's (Trumbull, CT/Trumbull) clutch 2-out, 2-run single in the eighth inning, lifted the Setters to a, 6-4, win over Concordia College at Pace's Finnerty Field. Pace improves to 8-1 on the season, while the Clippers drop to 10-10 overall.

Concordia struck first as Eddie Martinez led off the second with a single, advancing to second on a ground out. Scott DeIeso followed with a run scoring double, advanced to third on a wild pitch and scored on a balk. In the third, Jason Lewandowski drew a one-out walk, stole second and took third on a wild pitch. Kevin Hickey grounded out to shortstop, allowing Lewandowski to score. In the fifth, Michael Gagliardi was hit by a pitch with two out and advanced to second on a single by Lewandowski. The runners would move to second and third on a wild pitch and Gagliardi would score on Setter pitcher Dustin Corbett's (Vestal, NY/Vestal) second wild pitch of the inning.

The Setters chipped away at the Clipper lead in the fifth, as Mike Pahira (Holmdel, NJ/Holmdel) led off with a double. Pahira would score on back-to-back ground outs by Sunil Brijall (Buchanan, NY/Henry Hudson) and Liscinsky to cut their deficit to 4-1.

In the sixth, Pace rallied to tie the score as Adam Harwood (Los Angeles, CA/Brentwood) drew a lead off walk. Following a flyout, Matt Arburr (Bristol, CT/Bristol Eastern) and Brian Hollrah (Glenwood, MD/Glenely) walked to load the bases. After a pitching change, Pahira singled scoring Hollrah and advanced to second on a fielding error by Clipper right fielder Lewandowski, which allowed Arburr to score and Hollrah to move to third. Brijall flied out to right, allowing Hollrah to score the tying run on a fielding error by Clippers catcher Rich Darrell, who could not handle the throw to the plate.

The Setters took the lead in the 8th as Arburr doubled down the left field line with one out. Hollrah was intentionally walked and Pahira also drew a base on balls to load up the bases. Following a flyout, Liscinsky ripped a single up the middle into center field, scoring Arburr and Hollrah to put the Setters in front 6-4. Michael Sheehy (Pelham, NY/Pelham Memorial) pitched a scoreless ninth to pick up the save.

For the Setters, Corbett pitched six innings, allowing three hits and four earned runs, while striking out four. Zach Dayton (North Falmouth, MA/Falmouth), Tom Parry (Wayne, PA/Conestoga) and Sheehy each pitched a scoreless inning to close out the game. Parry picked up his first win of the season, while Sheehy recorded his first save of 2006. For Concordia, Josh Likens started, tossing 5 1/3 innings, allowing two hits and four runs (two earned), while striking out three and walking five. Zach Staniewicz was tagged with the loss, pitching 2 2/3 innings, allowing three hits and two runs, while striking out two.
