ALBANY, NY - The Pace Univeristy baseball team defeated the College of Saint Rose, 9-0, in a Northeast-10 Conference baseball game played at Bruno Stadium in Albany, NY.  With the win, Pace improves to 25-14 overall and 10-8 in the Northeast-10 Conference while St. Rose drops to 8-30 overall and 4-17 in conference play.   The 2006 Setters become the 5th team in Pace baseball history to record 25 wins in a season while Henry Manning becomes the first Pace baseball coach to win 25 games in back-to-back seasons.

The Setters jumped on the board early, scoring two runs in the first inning.  Freshman standout Andre Liscinsky (Trumbull, CT/Trumbull) singled to right field with one out.  Jack Cawley (Bronx, NY/Iona Prep) then doubled to center field, scoring Liscinsky from first.  After Matt Arburr (Bristol, CT/Bristol Eastern) walked, Matt Castellano (Staten Island, NY/St. Joseph) singled to right field to load the bases.  After Mike Pahira (Holmdel, NJ/Holmdel) struck out, Matt Bisbano (Mt. Kisco, NY/Foxlane) walked to force in a run.

Pace would score again in the 4th inning when Arburr walked with two outs, stole second and then advanced to third on a wild pitch.  Castellano then followed with his second hit of the game, scoring Arburr from third and giving Pace a 3-0 lead. The Setters would tack on four more runs in the to of the 7th inning.  Liscinsky and Arburr both singled before Castellano singled up the middle, scoring Liscinsky from second base.  After both runners moved up a base on a passed ball, Pahira singled to left field, scoring both runners. Following an Adam Harwood (Los Angeles, CA/Brentwood) single, Chris Brown (Kingston, RI/South Kingstown) singled to score Harwood and give Pace a 7-0 edge.

Pace starter Bryan Hallberg (River Edge, NJ/Riverdell) was brilliant on the mound. The junior right hander improved to 4-3 on the season after holding Saint Rose to one hit over seven innings while striking out eight. Hallberg was perfect through four innings, retiring the first 12 batters he faced, before giving up a walk in the top of the 5th.  Junior Tommy Parry (Wayne, PA/Conastoga) and freshma Eric Brown (Norwalk, CT/Norwalk) each pitch a hitless inning while striking out one batter apiece.

At the plate, Castellano finished the day at 3-for-4 with three RBI and one run scored.  Cawley was 4-for-6 with a double while Liscinsky was 3-for-5 with three runs scored.  Pahira, Bisbano and Brown each had two apiece.
