BASEBALL FALLS TO SAINT ANSELM IN MAKE-UP GAME
EASTON, MA- The Pace baseball team lost in the ninth inning against Saint Anselm to wrap up a rare two games in two different sites doubleheader. The Setters improve to 26-21 and 16-9 in the NE-10.
The Setters in the rare two site-two game doubleheader lost the second game of their long afternoon in the ninth inning to Saint Anselm, 6-5. Jack Cawley got Pace on the board in the opening inning, leading off with a single, stole second and scored on a base hit by Joe Barracato. Barracato would eventually score on a single by Ted Mullen.
The Hawks scored a run in the second, but the Setters put up two more runs in their half of the third on a run scoring hit by Aaron Zrenda and a sac fly by Matt Rigoli.
Pace would eventually take a 5-4 lead into the bottom of the ninth, where the Hawks were able to put together the game-winning rally with the tying run scoring on a sacrifice fly and the winner came home on a wild pitch.
On the hill, Alexander Mason got the start, tossing
4 2/3 innings, allowing seven hits and three runs. Michael Sheehy
came on in relief, pitching 2 1/3 giving up three hits and one
run, while fanning three. Frank Luongo hurled a scoreless
eighth inning, only allowing a hit. Eric Brown pitched the
decisive 2/3 of an inning the ninth, giving up the tying and
game-winning runs and picking up the loss.
