FORMER SETTER QUALBEN AN ALL-STAR
PLEASANTVILLE, NY - Former Pace University baseball player David Qualben (Brooklyn, NY/Xavier) has been selected to the Northern Division All-Star team of the South Atlantic League. The All-star game will feature the Northern Division stars squaring off against the Southern Division stars on Tuesday, June 19 at State Mutual Field in Rome, Georgia.
Qualben is 6-4 so far this season with a 3.25 ERA in 16 appearances (10 starts) for the Lexington Legends, the Class A affiliate of the Houston Astros. He has allowed 26 runs (25 earned) on 70 hits in 69.1 innings of work, while fanning 55.
Qualben was selected in the 7th Round (219th Overall) by the Astros in the 2006 MLB Amateur Draft. Last season, he pitched for the Tri-City Valley Cats (Class A Short-Season), where he posted an even 5-5 record with a 2.25 ERA in 14 starts. He allowed 26 runs (18 earned) on 54 hits in 72.0 innings of work to go along with 43 strikeouts.
