BASEBALL DROPS DOUBLEHEADER TO BARTON
WILSON, NC- The Pace baseball team dropped a doubleheader to Barton, falling 9-5 in the opener and 7-6 in the nightcap. The Setters drop to 8-6 on the season, while Barton improves to 16-17.
For the twin bill, Chris Brown (West Kingston, RI/South Kingston) collected five hits in six at-bats with three doubles and scored three runs. Andre Liscinsky (Trumbull, CT/Trumbull) went 4-for-7 in the two games, with a pair of doubles and two RBIs. Neil Ross (Cortland Manor, NY/Panas) blasted a seventh inning solo homerun in game two and also scored a pair of runs in the two games. Matt Rigoli (Parsippany, NJ/Parsippany) went 3-for-8 on the day with two doubles and two runs scored.
On the hill, Nicholas DeMeo (Farmingville, NY/Sachem East) started the opener, allowing six runs (three earned) over 5 2/3 innings, with three strikeouts. Chris Camastro (Lagrangeville, NY/Arlington) closed out the final 1/3 of an inning, allowing three unearned runs on three hits. In the nightcap, Dustin Corbett (Vestal, NY/Vestal) went four innings, allowing six runs (three earned) on six hits and struck out three. Michael Franza (Lynbrook, NY/Lynbrook) tossed one inning of scoreless ball. Michael Sciarretta (Stamford, CT/Stamford) threw 1 1/3 innings, allowing the no hits and giving up an unearned runs in the bottom of seventh to get the loss.
Pace returns to action when they travel to Pembroke, NC to take
on UNC-Pembroke on Wednesday, March 19 scheduled for 6 pm first
pitch.
