SETTERS BLAST FIVE HOMERUNS ON THE DAY
PEMBROKE, NC - The Setters hammered out 14 hits, including five home runs and a pair of doubles, on their way to a 13-4 blowout win over UNC-Pembroke. The Setters improve to 9-6 on the season, while UNC-Pembroke drops to 18-14 on the season.
The Setters were led by Chris Spatkowski (Bristol, CT/Bristol) (3-for-6) and Neil Ross (Cortland Manor, NY/Panas) (3-for-4). Ross blasted a pair of home runs, while Spatkowski also went yard and as a team the Setters also got a solo blast from Jack Cawley (Bronx, NY/Iona Prep) in the first inning, while Joe Barracato (Westbury, NY/W.T. Clarke) launched a three-run bomb in the fourth.
UNCP starter Adam Hamrick (0-3) picked up the loss after allowing five earned runs on four hits and a pair of walks in just three innings. For Pace, Aaron Zrenda (Niantic, CT/Loomis Chaffee Prep) (2-1) came on in relief of starter Eric Brown with a sizable lead in the fourth and picked up the win for the Setters after striking out five and scattering five hits over 3 2/3 innings. Frank Luongo and Mackenzie King each pitched a shutout over the final 2 1/3 innings to hold the lead for the Setters and coasted to the victory. .
The Setters return to action on Friday, March 21 when they
travel to Murfreesboro, NC to take on Chowan College in a
non-conference game scheduled for a 2 pm first pitch.
