BASEBALL FALLS TO CHIRSTOPHER NEWPORT, 11-5

NEWPORT NEWS, VA - The Pace University baseball team fell to Christopher Newport University, 11-5, in the final game of their 2008 Spring Break trip. Pace drops t o10-7 on the season, while Christopher Newport improves to 16-4 overall on the year. The Setters wrap up their spring break trip with a 4-6 record, highlighted by a 13-3 victory over #9 West Chester University.

Kenny Moreland picked up the win for Christopher Newport, going eight strong innings, allowing three runs (two earned) on 11 hits, while walking one and striking out eight. Michael Mastrogiovanni (Glen Rock, NJ/Glen Rock) took the loss lasting just 3.1 innings, allowing three runs on seven hits, while walking two and striking out two. The Setters received no relief from their pen, which allowed eight runs (six earned) on 10 hits in 4.2 innings. Pace's defense was also shaky, committing four errors on the day.

Jack Cawley (Bronx, NY/Iona Prep), Neil Ross (Cortland Manor, NY/Panas), Matt Rigoli (Parsippany, NJ/Parsippany) and Vinny Dammann (Mullica Hill, NJ/Gloucester Catholic) all collected two hits on the day.
