BASEBALL REMAINS PERFECT IN NE-10; SWEEPS SOUTHERN NEW HAMPSHIRE
SETTERS RACK UP 30 HITS IN TWIN BILL KILLING

PLEASANTVILLE, NY - The Pace baseball dominated the Penmen of Southern New Hampshire, sweeping a doubleheader taking game one 21-3 and cruising in the nightcap 10-1. The Setters improve to 14-8 overall and remain unbeaten in conference play at 4-0, while the Penmen drop to 2-13 and remain winless in the NE-10 at 0-7.

The Setters dominated the opener, tuning up the offense with 22 hits and capitalizing on seven Penmen errors to roll in the opener 21-3. Andre Liscinsky (Trumbull, CT/Trumbull), Neil Ross (Cortland Manor, NY/Panas) and Chris Spatkowski (Bristol, CT/Bristol Eastern) each recorded three hits and three RBIs in the game to lead the Setters. Eric Brown (Norwalk, CT/Norwalk) went the first 2 1/3 innings allowing one earned and three hits. Mike Mastrogiovanni (Glen Rock, NJ/Glen Rock) came on in relief, tossing 3 2/3 innings allowing no runs and no hits, evening his record at 1-1 on the season. Salvatore DePaola (East Meadow, NJ/Kellenberg), Michael Franza (Lynbrook, NY/Lynbrook) and Chris Camastro (Lagrangeville, NY/Arlington) all pitched a scoreless inning to finish the blowout victory in the opener.

The Setters cruised in the nightcap, rolling out 10 runs on eight hits, taking advantage of four more Penmen errors to coast to the twin bill sweep, 10-1. Matt Rigoli (Parsippany, NJ/Parsippany) went 2-for-3 with two runs and three RBIs, including a two-run homerun in the second inning. Joe Cotone (Yorktown Heights, NY/Lakeland) blasted a solo homerun in the second, while Chris Brown (West Kingston, RI/South Kingston) collected two hits in four at-bats and scored twice.

On the hill, Nicholas DeMeo (Farmingville, NY/Sachem East) went 5 2/3 innings, allowing three hits and no runs, while registering four strikeouts, to even his record at 1-1 on the season. The bullpen finished strong allowing two hits and one earned run the rest of the way as Frank Luongo (West Harrison, NY/West Harrison), Dane Doucette (Middletown, NY/Middletown), Kyle Henriksen (Bayshore, NY/Bayshore) and Mike Sciarretta (Stamford, CT/Stamford) all had solid relief appearances.

The Setters and the Penmen will wrap up their three-game series as the two teams return to Finnerty Field in Pleasantville on Sunday, March 30 for a single game with first pitch scheduled for noon.
