PACE PICKS UP 20TH WIN IN DOUBLEHEADER SPLIT WITH STONEHILL
EASTON, MA - The Pace baseball team picked up win number 20 in the Setters' 7-1 game one win over Stonehill before falling 2-0 in a nightcap pitching dual in Northeast-10 Conference action. The Setters stand at 20-12 overall and 10-3 in the NE-10, while the Skyhawks are 16-13 and 8-6 in conference play.
Pace would get on the board in the second inning as Andre Liscinsky (Trumbull, CT/Trumbull) lifted a sacrifice fly to center, putting the Setters on the board 1-0. Pace rallied in the fourth, scoring six runs as Joe Cotone (Yorktown Heights, NY/Lakeland) had a two-run single for the key hit of the inning. Matt Rigoli (Parsippany, NJ/Parsippany) also had an RBI single in the inning and went 4-for-5 in the game.
The Setter trio of Tommy Parry (Wayne, PA/Conestoga), Chris Camastro (Lagrangeville, NY/Arlington) and Mike Sciarretta (Stamford, CT/Stamford) combined to toss a one-hitter in the game. Parry went the first 3 2/3 innings allowing one run on one hit, while striking out three. Camastro (1-0) picked up his first win of the year as he tossed three shutout innings, striking out two. Sciarretta pitched a perfect 2 1/3 innings, striking out three.
In the nightcap, Setter starter Dustin Corbett (Vestal, NY/Vestal) tossed a gem, striking out eight in a complete game but two unearned runs in the third by the Skyhawks proved to be the difference as the Pace bats were limited to four hits in the game. Corbett (4-1) dropped his first decision of the season, but lowered his ERA to 1.61 on the season.
The Setters and the Skyhawks will wrap up their three game
series on Sunday, April 13 when the teams will travel to Finnerty
Field on Pace's Pleasantville campus for a 1:00 pm first pitch.
