NE-10 LEADER BASEBALL FALLS TO SAINT ROSE

ALBANY, NY- The Pace baseball team, the top team in the NE-10 and ranked #2 in the latest NCAA Northeast Regional rankings, dropped a Northeast-10 Conference game to the Golden Knights of Saint Rose 7-3. The Setters drop to 27-13-1 and 16-4-1 in the NE-10, while the Golden Knights improve to 13-28 and 9-15 in conference play.

Pace would get on the board in the first as Andre Liscinsky (Trumbull, CT/Trumbull) led off with a single and Joe Barracato (Westbury, NY/W.T. Clarke) reached base on an error with Liscinsky moving to third and Barracato to second. Jack Cawley (Bronx, NY/Iona Prep) got the first run home with an RBI groundout. Barracato would advance to third on a wild pitch and scored on a passed ball.

Saint Rose rallied in the second, scoring four runs behind and RBI single by Dominick Iaconis and later in the inning Sean Weber had the key hit with a two-run double. Weber would eventually score on a fielding error. The Golden Knights tacked on two more in the fourth as Ryan Price drove in a pair of runs on a single. Saint Rose would tack on their seventh run in the sixth as Price would lift a sacrifice fly to left field.

The Setters would rally in the eighth but only came up with one run on a sacrifice fly by Chris Brown (West Kingston, RI/South Kingston).

On the mound for the Setters, Salvatore DePaola (East Meadow, NY/Kellenberg Memorial) struggled on the hill, allowing four earned runs and five over three innings, dropping his record to 2-3 on the season. Eric Brown (Norwalk, CT/Norwalk) came on in relief, tossing four innings, allowing two hits and two runs, while striking out two. Chris Camastro (Lagrangeville, NY/Arlington) went the final inning, retiring all three batters he faced.

The Setters return to action when they host Northeast-10 Conference foe Southern Connecticut State on Friday, April 25 at 3:30 pm at Finnerty Field on Pace's Pleasantville campus.
