BASEBALL ADVANCES TO NE-10 SEMIFINALS/KNOCK OFF #4 UMASS LOWELL
CORBETT SETS SCHOOL CAREER STRIKEOUT RECORD IN 7-1 VICTORY

LOWELL, MA- Dustin Corbett (Vestal, NY/Vestal) tossed 6 2/3 shutout innings, allowing seven hits and striking out seven as the #5 Setters knocked off the #4 seed UMass Lowell to advance to the face #1 seed Bryant in the NE-10 semifinals in a double elimination format. Corbett's seven strikeouts gave him 199 for his career, vaulting him into first all-time on the school strikeout record list passing former Pace hurler David Qualben, who struck out 196 from 2004-06. The Setters, ranked #6 in the latest NCAA Northeast Regional rankings, improve to 31-21 overall, while the River Hawks drop to 26-24 on the season

The Setters wasted no time in getting on the board as Andre Liscinsky (Trumbull, CT/Trumbull) led off the first inning with a single, eventually coming around to score on a sac fly by Chris Brown (West Kingston, RI/South Kingston). Pace broke the game open in the second, scoring five time in the inning with the key hit coming on Liscinsky's two-run triples. Jack Cawley (Bronx, NY/Iona Prep) had an RBI double in the inning, while Vinny Dammann (Mullica Hill, NJ/Gloucester Catholic) added a run scoring single. Dammann would tack on an insurance run in the with a run scoring single.

Liscinsky had three hits on the day and scored twice, while Dammann went 2-for-3 with a pair of RBIs, while Brown also had two runs batted in.

On the mound, Corbett (7-3) scattered seven hits on his way to breaking the school career strikeout record, fanning seven in the contest. Mackenzie King (Blairstown, NJ/North Warren) came on in relief, throwing the final 2 1/3 innings, allowing one unearned run on one hit, while striking out three to close out victory for the Setters.

The Setters advance to the Northeast-10 semifinals, where Pace will square off against top seeded Bryant on Friday, May 9 at 7 pm. The double elimination semifinals will be held at Franklin Pierce University in Rindge, NH from May 9-11.
