SETTERS LOSE TO DELTA STATE
CLEVELAND, MS- The Pace baseball team lost to Delta State 29-5 on the second day of the three-game series between the two teams. Joe Cotone (Yorktown Heights, NY/Lakeland) went 4-for-5 with a homerun and a double, while driving in two runs. The Setters fall to 2-3 on the season, while the Statesmen improve to 9-9 overall.
Pace got on the board in the opening inning as Chris Spatkowski (Bristol, CT/Bristol Eastern) led off with a single and scored on a run scoring double by Cotone.
Delta State would rally in the bottom of the second, scoring five times and adding three more in the third. A Vinny Dammann (Mullica Hill, NJ/Gloucester Catholic) RBI single in the third would make the scored 8-2 after three complete innings. The Statesmen would score in four of the final five innings, including 10 runs in the sixth to win going away over the Setters.
Dammann went 2-for-2 with two RBIs, while Spatkowski collected two hits in four at-bats, while stealing two bases on the day.
The teams wrap up their three-game series on Sunday with the series finale at 11 am.
