PACE AND CONCORDIA BATTLE TO 3-3 TIE
GAME STOPPED AFTER 11 INNINGS DUE TO DARKNESS

PLEASANTVILLE, NY- The Pace University baseball team finished their second game, of a three game home-stand, in a 3-3 tie to the Clippers of Concordia College at Finnerty Field on Wednesday evening.

The tie moves Pace to 3-4-1 on the season, while Concordia will move to 4-10-1 for the year.

The first three innings of this game saw a lot of scoring as both team's offenses thrived in the relatively warm weather, while the two starting pitchers struggled. Concordia got the scoring started in the top of the first as the Clippers put together a two run inning on the strength of three hits, two steals, and a walk.

Pace's offense responded back to tie the game at 2-2 in the bottom of the second.  Left fielder Joe Cotone (Yorktown Heights, NY/Lakeland) led off the inning with a double to right field. First baseman Vinny Dammann (Mullica Hill, NJ/Gloucester Catholic) followed with a walk to put men on first and second with no outs. Jimmy Frost (Patterson, NY/Carmel) then came up to the plate with runners of first and third with one out. Frost delivered a clutch two RBI double to left center to tie the game at 2-2 after two innings.

Concordia came right back in the top of the third inning with back-to-back doubles to take the lead back at 3-2. After the Clippers were retired in their half of the third inning starting pitcher Zach Dayton's (North Falmouth, MA/Falmouth) day was over. Dayton struggled in his third start of the young season as the Concordia hitters seemed to have his number on this day. Dayton finished his outing allowing three runs on seven hits with two strikeouts in three innings.

The Setters came back again in the bottom of the third inning to get their ace off the hook for the loss. Center fielder Chris Spatkowski (Bristol, CT/Bristol Eastern) reached to start the inning on an error by the Concordia third baseman. Shortstop Andre Liscinsky (Trumbull, CT/Trumbull) then came up with Spatkowski on second, and singled through the left side to put runners on the corners with one out. Cotone hit a sacrifice fly to center to score Spatkowski to tie the score again at 3-3 after three innings.

After this point in the game the weather started to get colder, and so did both teams' offenses. The two sides could not push another run across for the next eight innings as pitching took over the game. A big reason why the Setters were able to stay tied was pitcher Eric Brown (Norwalk, CT/Norwalk). Brown pitched four shutout innings to help keep the game tied at 3-3. The umpires met after the bottom of the 11th inning, and decided to end the game in a tie due to darkness.

Pace will return back to action tomorrow as they play host to Caldwell College right here at Finnerty Field. The game is scheduled to start at 3:00 p.m.
