SETTERS SELECTED EIGHTH IN NE-10 PRESEASON COACHES' POLL

PLEASANTVILLE, NY- Pace University's baseball team has been picked to finish eighth in the Northeast-10 conference after receiving 81 points in the coaches' poll, the determined by the conference's 14 head coaches. The Setters ended their 2009 season 20-30-1 overall and 13-17 in conference play.

Reigning Northeast-10 tournament and regular season champ Franklin Pierce University received the top spot in the poll with eleven first place votes for a total of 167 points. Southern Connecticut State University along with NE-10 newcomer Adelphi University, were tied for second in the poll receiving 139 points a piece. UMass Lowell placed fourth in the voting with 137 points and a first place vote. The University of New Haven rounded out the top five with 113 points. Sixth place Assumption College received 110 points in the poll, along with the final two first place votes.

Pace begins its 2010 season on the road when they face off against Florida Southern in non-conference action on Friday, February 19 at 7:00 pm. The first home action at Finnerty Field for Pace this season will take place on Wednesday, March 10 at 3:00 pm against non-conference opponent St. Thomas Aquinas. The Setters will open Northeast-10 Conference action on Tuesday, March 16 on the road against Southern Connecticut State University.
