Trevor Brown begins his sixth season in the Setters' dugout and
will serve as the pitching coach for Coach Manning. Brown comes to
Pleasantville from Washington, D.C. where he spent two seasons as
the Georgetown University pitching coach. Prior to his stint at
Georgetown, he was the pitching coach and recruiting coordinator at
Eastern Connecticut State University in
1999-2000.
Last season, Brown's pitching staff ranked in the top-five in five
major pitching categories in the Northeast-10 Conference. The staff
ranked second in strikeouts, saves and runners picked off, while
finishing third in opposing team's batting average and fourth in
ERA. The team's 3.53 ERA also ranked 24th in the nation.
In 2006, Brown led a pitched staff that ranked 14th in the nation
in earned run average, posting a 3.22 mark. Four of Brown's hurlers
went on to be drafted by Major League Baseball, joining Patrick
Stanley who joined the MLB ranks in 2005.
In 2005, Brown instructed a pitching staff that ranked 2nd in
Division II baseball in earned-run-average at 2.50. Brown's
pitching staff also featured three players that ranked nationally
in earned-run-average, strikeouts per nine innings and
saves.
In 2004, Brown's pitching staff featured a drastic improvement over
the past couple of seasons. Last season's team
earned-run-average of 4.81 was the lowest at Pace since 1992.
Team strikeouts registered at 321, the most by a Pace pitching
staff since 1999.
In 2003, he was the head coach and field manager of the Petersburg
Generals of the Coastal Plains League. At the helm of the Generals,
his team set the league record for wins in a season and advanced to
play in the league championship game.
Brown has also managed summer league teams, including the
Wellsville Nitros of the New York Collegiate Baseball League and
the Manchester Silkworms of the New England Collegiate Baseball
League.
His professional playing experience includes two seasons in the
Western Australian Baseball League and one-year stays with the
Albany-Colonie Diamond Dogs of the Eastern League and the Johnstown
Steel of the Frontier League.
Brown resides in Branford, Conn. with his wife Jennifer and
daughter Bailey.
