SETTERS FINISH ELEVENTH AT MARIST INVITATIONAL

POUGHKEEPSIE, NY- The Pace University equestrian team finished eleventh overall at the Marist Invitational at Marist College. The Setters finished the competition with 11 points overall.

Caroline O'Connell (Saint James, NY/Smithtown West) came out of the Open Fences event with a second place finish, while teammates; Rebecca Page (Syracuse, NY/Bishop Ludden), Jackie Smith (Douglaston, NY/Cardozo), and Jan Kutscher (Stockton, NJ/Solebury) placed third, fourth, and fifth respectively in the same event.

Smith and Page also came in a tie for fourth in the Open Flats, while Kutscher just behind coming in fifth.

Victoria Keck (Wappingers Falls, NY/Our Lady of Lourdes) took home third place in the Beginning Walk/Trot Canter event.

Freshman Rene Merante (Holmdel, NJ/Holmdel) placed third in the Intermediate fences, while fellow teammate Kelly Herron (Burlington, CT/Lewis S. Mills) came in sixth.

Hatsue Tashiro (Port Jervis, NY/Port Jervis) placed second in the Novice Flats, while finishing sixth in the Novice Fences. Also in the Novice Fences, Mary Beth Dixon (North Little Rock, AR/North Little Rock) placed fourth at the meet.

Sophomore Toni-Ann Lena (Mahopac, NY/Sacred Heart) placed fifth in the Advanced Walk Trot Canter event, while fellow sophomore Julia Bowler (South Salem, NY/John Jay-Cross River) finished sixth.

In the Walk Trot competition, Justina Edwards (Carmel, NY/Port Chester) finished fifth.

Pace equestrian will return to action on Saturday, November 21 at Centenary College in Hackettstown, NJ for the Stevens Institute of Technology event.
