SOUTHERN CONNECTICUT BLANKS PACE, 49-0

NEW HAVEN, CT - Southern Connecticut blanked the Setters of Pace in Northeast-10 Conference football action tonight at Jess Dow Field in New Haven, CT. The Setters drop to 1-6 overall and 1-5 in the NE-10, while Southern Connecticut improves to 4-3 overall and 3-2 in conference play.

Southern scored on nearly every first half possession, with their lone non-scoring drive ending in a missed field goal attempt. The Setter offense struggled, totaling seven yards in the first half.

For the game, Pace totaled 122 yards of total offense on 56 plays, while Southern Connecticut posted 581 yards of offense on 71 plays.

For Pace, quarterback Ray Gregg (Stony Point, NY/North Rockland) started, completing 1-of-6 passes for five yards in the first half. Adam Headley came on in relief and passed for 32 yards on 4-for-12 passing, while also rushing for 29 yards. Josh Trumper (Pine Grove, NJ/Toms River South) led the Setter rushing attack, totaling 60 yards on 16 carries, for 3.8 per game average.

Defensively, the Setters were led by Greg Brain (Westtown, NY/Minisink Valley) who tallied 15 tackles and an interception. Ricky McCollum (Newburgh, NY/UConn) added 13 tackles, while Jon Jones (Dover, NH/Bridgton Academy) recorded 10. NCAA Division II tackler Joe Streany (Croton, NY/Croton) posted nine tackles and also recovered a fumble.

The Setters return to action next Saturday, October 20 for a Northeast-10 Conference game, when the Setters will host the Yellow Jackets of American International College for a 12:00 pm kickoff at Pace Field on Pace's Pleasantville campus.
