QUINCY-JONES, WILSON LEAD PACE TO 79-60 WIN OVER ASSSUMPTION
WORCESTER, MA – Desmond Quincy-Jones (Rye, NY/Rye) and Randy Wilson (Peekskill, NY/Peekskill) each turned in double-double performances as Pace broke a three-game losing streak with a 79-60 win over Assumption College in Worcester, MA.
Quincy-Jones had a game-high 21 points to go along with 11 rebounds and two blocks. Wilson totaled 14 points and 10 rebounds to help Pace improve to 9-9 overall and 6-7 in Northeast-10 Conference play. Assumption drops to 4-14 overall and 2-11 in conference action.
Neal Wellington (Wheaton, MD/ Good Counsel) had 15 points, hitting on 3-of-3 from 3-point range, as well as five assists in the Setters’ win. The Setters forced the Greyhounds into 18 turnovers in the game on their way to scoring 20 points on their opponents mistakes. Pace also grabbed 23 offensive rebounds, scoring 25 2nd chance points in the game.
Gibraltar White (Gautier, MS/ Gautier) totaled
15 and seven rebounds as well as three steals. The sophomore
guard hit on 6-of-12 from the floor, including 3-of-4 from 3-point
range.
Pace led 39-35 in the first half but jumped out to a decisive lead
in the 2nd half of play. The Setters converted
7-of-12 free throw attempts down the stretch to Assumptions 3-of-5
in the final half of play.
Pace returns to action when they host Bryant University on Tuesday, January 24th at 7:30 p.m. in a Northeast-10 Conference matchup at the Goldstein Health, Fitness & Recreation Center on the Pleasantville campus of Pace University.
