WELLINGTON NAMED TO MBWA 2ND TEAM
WHITE PLAINS, NY - Pace senior guard Neal Wellington (Wheaton, MD/Good Counsel) was named to the 2005-06 Metropolitan Basketball Writers Association 2nd team. It is the 2nd time in as many years that Wellington received all-Met honors.
This season, Wellington became the first Pace men's basketball player to reach 1,000 points, 350 assists, 200 steals and 165 3-pointers for a career. He started all 28 games for the Setters, scoring in double figures in 22 of those games, including seven 20-point games. Wellington set career highs in points, points per game, assists, free throw percentage and rebounds. He had a career-high 29 points against UMass Lowell on January 25th and a career-high 13 assists against Molloy on November 15th.
He finished the year ranked 10th in the Northeast-10 in points per game at 15.4, 3rd in assists per game with 5.61, 4th in free throw percentage at 85.7% and 9th in assist-to-turnover ratio at 1.78. For his career, his 238 steals rank 1st all-time, his 1,230 career points rank 16th, his 340 assists rank 7th and his 166 3-pointers rank 5th all-time at Pace. Wellington's 157 assists are the 2nd highest single season total in Pace history.
