RYAN WILLIAMS AND DESMOND QUINCY-JONES NAMED TO NORTHEAST-10 MEN'S BASKETBALL ALL-CONFERENCE TEAMS
SOUTH EASTON, MA- Pace University juniors Ryan Williams (Centreville, VA/Paul VI) and Desmond Quincy-Jones (Rye, NY/Rye) have been named to the 2006-07 Northeast-10 Conference Men's Basketball All-Conference Teams. Williams was named to the First Team, while Quincy-Jones was named to the Third Team.
Williams and Quincy-Jones were integral parts in leading Pace to its first 20-win season since 2001-02 and the #2 seed in the NE-10 Conference Tournament. The Setters earned a first round bye and defeated Le Moyne College, 79-70, in the quarterfinals, before losing to the College of Saint Rose in the semifinals, 82-81, on a last second three-pointer. Pace (20-12, 15-7 NE-10) will await a possible at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament.
Williams has played in all 32 games this season for Pace, starting 31. He has been Pace's main scoring threat leading the Setters in points scored (604), scoring average (18.9 ppg), field goals made (205) and three-point field goals made (113). Williams also leads the team in minutes played (32.7 mpg) and steals (67). He is shooting 42.0% (205-for-488) from the field, 39.9% (113-for-283) from beyond the arc, and a team-best 79.4% (81-for-102) from the free throw line. In the NE-10, Williams ranks first in scoring, third in steals, 11th in three-point field goal percentage and second in three-point field goals made.
For his career, Williams is eighth on the Pace University men's basketball all-time scoring list with 1,336 career points. He is the eighth player in Pace history to reach the 1,300-career points plateau and is only the fifth player in school history to score over 600 points in a single season. Williams is second all-time in career three-pointers made with 249 and holds the record for single season three-pointers made with 113, which he set this season. He is ninth on the all-time steals list with 139.
Quincy-Jones has had a career year starting in all 32 games
played this season. He has set career highs in points scored (446),
rebounds (227), field goals made (161), three-point field goals
made (34), free throws made (90), assists (46) and steals (29).
Quincy-Jones is second on the team in scoring, averaging 13.9
points per game and rebounding, averaging 7.1 rebounds per game. He
is shooting 51.1% (161-for-315) from the field and a team-best
43.0% (34-for-79) from beyond the arc. In the NE-10, Quincy-Jones
ranks 17th in scoring, eighth in rebounding,
15th in field goal percentage, second in three-point
field goal percentage, 13th in offensive rebounds and
10th in defensive rebounds.
