PACE FALLS TO FRANKLIN PIERCE ON LAST SECOND BUCKET
SETTERS LOSE 65-64 IN HEARTBREAKER

PLEASANTVILLE, NY - Franklin Pierce's Kinard Dozier (Dedham, MA/The Winchendon School) scored with four seconds left in the game to lift the Ravens past the Setters 65-64 in Northeast-10 Conference action. The Setters drop to 9-10 overall and 8-6 in the NE-10, while the Ravens improve to 7-13 overall and 3-12 in conference play.

The Setters jumped out to an early 7-2 lead but the Ravens quickly rallied and tied the score at seven. The score remained close throughout the remainder of the half with neither team leading by more than four and the half also featured seven tied. Pace emerged from the see-saw opening period with a 33-31 lead at the break. The teams were also very even statistically as the Setters shot 11-for-25 from the field, while the Ravens made 12-of-30 from the field.

The second half saw the game stay tight but the Ravens were able to use a 6-0 run to pull ahead 49-43 with 9:34 left in the game. The Setters responded with a 7-0 run, capped off by a three-point play by Desmond Quincy-Jones (Rye, NY/Rye) to put Pace up 50-49 with 7:32 to go in the game. The score would continued to flip between two teams as the Ravens took a four point lead but gave it up as Ryan Williams (Centreville, VA/Paul VI) hit 3-for-3 from the line and Gibraltar White (Gautier, MS/Gautier) knocked down a three-ball to put Pace back ahead 56-54 with 5:22 left in the game.

Franklin Pierce would retake the lead on a three-point play by Terrell Ray (Brooklyn, NY/Fort Hamilton) with just under five minutes to play in the game. The Setters regained their advantage on back-to-back trifectas from Williams and White to lead 62-57 with just over four minutes left in the game. The score would go back even at 62 as the Ravens' Dozier scored on a lay-up and Timothy Munch (Blauvelt, NY/Storm King Prep) connected on a three-pointer. A jumper by the Setters Miro Fain (New Rochelle, NY/Iona Prep) gave Pace a two-point lead with just over two minutes to play. Franklin Pierce trimmed the lead in half as Steve Ramos (Lynn, MA/Hebron Academy) converted 1-of-2 from the charity stripe with 43 seconds left in the game. Following a Setter turnover on their ensuing possession, Dozier would drive and score the go-ahead bucket with four seconds left. The Setters raced the ball up the court but could not get off a shot as time expired and the Ravens escaped the Goldstein Center with a one-point win. 

For Pace, Williams shot 7-for-14 from the field and 4-for-9 from long range to tally the team-high with 21 points, while classmate White hit 7-of-12 from the field and 4-for-8 from behind the arc to finish with 20 points. Quincy-Jones totaled 11 points and eight boards, while junior Randy Wilson (Peekskill, NY/Peekskill) grabbed a game-high 14 caroms.

For Franklin Pierce, Munch scored a game-high 24 points, while grabbing five boards. Dozier chipped in 18 points, six rebounds and four assists, while Mike Barrow (Mattapan, MA/Hebron Academy) led the team with seven boards.

Pace returns to action when they host Hawks of Saint Anselm College on Saturday, February 2 in a Northeast-10 Conference clash at the Goldstein Fitness Center scheduled for a 1:30 pm tip-off on Alumni Day.
