PACE FALLS ON BUZZER BEATER TO SOUTHERN NEW HAMPSHIRE
SETTERS LOSE 63-61 IN HEARTBREAKER

MANCHESTER, NH - Southern New Hampshire's Troy Bowen's hit the game-winning basket with less than five seconds to go in the game, giving the Penmen a two-point over the Setters. Pace falls to 9-13 overall and 8-9 in the NE-10, while the Penmen improve to 12-11 and 9-9 in conference play.

The Setters and Penmen played an even game throughout most of the first half as neither team led by more than four points. Pace pulled away over the final seven minutes of the half as they used a 15-4 run to take a 37-29 lead into the break. Gibraltar White (Gautier, MS/Gautier) started the run with a trifecta to put Pace up by one and a Ryan Williams (Centreville, VA/Paul VI) three-ball with under a minute to play capped the run and gave the Setters an eight-point halftime advantage.

The Setters continued their solid play early in the second half as a three-pointer from Williams gave Pace their biggest lead of the game 40-31 with 18:41 left in the game. The Penmen slowly chipped away at the Pace lead using a 10-2 run to close to within one at 41-40 with 13:49 to go in the game. The Setters pushed their lead back to eight behind three-pointers from Williams and White. The lead was quickly erased on a 7-0 Penmen run and they would trail by one with eight minutes to go in the game. Southern New Hampshire would tie the game at 56 on a three-pointer by Gerald Carter and eventually take a four-point lead with 3:22 remaining in the game. The Setters rallied as Williams hit one of two from the free throw line with 1:32 to go in the game and just over a minute later knocked down a shot from downtown to knot the game at 61 with 24 seconds left in the game. The Penmen would take the final shot as Bowen's bucket with two seconds to go would prove to be the difference maker as the Setters fell in a heartbreaker.

For Pace, White hit 6-of-14 from the field and 4-for-9 from behind the arc to finish with a team-high 16 points, while grabbing six boards. Classmate Williams shot 5-for-14 from the field and 4-for-9 from long range to tally 15 points, and chipped in five rebounds. Desmond Quincy-Jones (Rye, NY/Rye) totaled 12 points, while Jon Jones (Dover, NH/Bridgeton Academy) tallied a team-high seven caroms.

For Southern New Hampshire, Sam Carey recorded a double-double with 23 points and 16 rebounds, while Bowen finished with 13 points. Carter tallied eight boards.

Pace returns to action when they travel to New Haven, CT on Wednesday, February 13 to face the Owls of Southern Connecticut State in a Northeast-10 Conference clash scheduled for a 7:30 pm tip-off.
