RYAN WILLIAMS NAMED ALL-AMERICAN HONORABLE MENTION BY SPORTING NEWS

PLEASANTVILLE, NY- Pace University senior guard Ryan Williams (Centreville, VA/Paul VI) has been named an All-American Honorable Mention by the Sporting News.

Williams enters his final season ranked 8th all-time at Pace in points scored (1,342), second in career three-point field goals made (251) and ninth in career steals (140). Williams set a new school record for three-pointers made in a single-season with 115 in ‘06-07, breaking the previous record of 94 held by Jay Carlington (2001-02). Williams is on his way to being the most prolific three-point shooter in Pace University men's basketball history. Along with holding the record for threes in a single-season, Williams also holds the record for threes made by a freshman with 88 and is nine (9) threes away from breaking the all-time record of 259 held by Carlington (1998-02).

Williams led the Northeast-10 Conference in scoring last season averaging 18.5 points per game, while ranking 13th nationally in three-point field goals per game (3.5), 55th in steals per game (2.1), 58th in three-point field goal percentage (39.8) and 64th in points per game (18.5). Williams received various off-season honors for his efforts last year being named to the NE-10 All-Conference First Team, the All-Met First Team and the Dacktronics NCAA Division II All-Northeast Region Second Team.

Pace is coming off of its fourth NCAA Tournament Appearance and sixth 20-win season in school history. The Sporting News also named the Setters as a possible breakthrough team.

Pace opens their 2007-08 campaign on Friday, November 16th at the Pepsi Tip-Off in Mankato, Minnesota against the University of Minnesota - Duluth. The Setters home opener is slated for Tuesday, November 20th against NE-10 Conference foe American International College. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
