PACE CAN'T HOLD ON AGAINST STONEHILL IN CONFERENCE LOSS

EASTON, MA- Pace sophomore Ryan Woods (Staten Island, NY/St. Peter's Boys) led the Setters offensive attack by scoring a team-high 16 points, but poor second half shooting as a team against the Skyhawks of Stonehill College turned into a 68-54 Northeast-10 Conference loss for Pace. Woods also took down nine rebounds in the contest. The loss drops Pace's record to 7-7 overall and 5-4 in the NE-10. For the Skyhawks, the win improves their record to 11-3 overall and 8-1 in conference play.

Both schools battled in the first half which included six lead changes throughout. The duel in the first half would end with Pace taking a 29-27 lead going into the break, after sophomore Justin Alston (Bronx, NY/St. Raymond HS) drained a jumper as time expired.

In the beginning of the second half, Pace would maintain a small lead. With the score 36-35, a three pointer from Stonehill's Brian Hamor would change the lead for good giving Stonehill the 38-36 edge. With seven minutes remaining, and the Setters down by three with the score 49-46, the Skyhawks would take full control by going on a 19-8 run the rest of the way to seal the win. The Setters only shot 29 percent from the field in the second half, while the Skyhawks shot 40 percent.

Along with Woods, Pace senior Laurence McGhee (Linden, NJ/Linden) also had a solid performance by scoring nine points and dishing out four assists. Sophomore Adrian Mills (Woodbridge, VA/Paul VI) also netted nine points in the loss.

The Setters will be returning to action on Tuesday, January 12 when they come back home to face off against the Hawks of St. Anselm College in a Northeast-10 Conference game set to begin at 7:30 p.m. at Pace's Goldstein Fitness Center on the Pleasantville Campus.
