SETTERS LOSE OFFENSIVE

WOODS SCORES CAREER HIGH 27 IN LOSS
PLEASANTVILLE, NY- The Pace University men's basketball team fell in an offensive battle against the Saint Anselm College Hawks losing 105-100 in overtime. Pace falls to 7-8 overall and 5-5 in the Northeast-10 with the loss, while Saint Anselm improves to 9-6 overall and 5-5 in the NE-10 with the win.
Ryan Woods (Staten Island, NY/St. Peter's Boys) was the leader in Pace's offensive attack, scoring a career-high 27 points, along with collecting seven rebounds.
Along with Woods, Adrian Mills (Woodbridge, VA/Paul VI) netted 25 points to go along with six rebounds and four assists.
Laurence McGhee (Linden, NJ/Linden) also had a solid performance with 17 points scored and five assists.
The two schools battled in the first half, but the Hawks ended up on top leading by six at the end of the opening period.
The Hawks continued to soar, climbing out to a 14 point advantage midway through the second half. Pace then used a 21-8 run to rally back to within one of Saint Anselm. The Hawks eventually climbed back out to a six point lead, but the Setters rallied back one more time to tie the game at 91 with one minute remaining to ultimately bring the game to overtime.
In overtime, the schools fought to tie at 94, and from there the Hawks when on a 6-0 run to bring the score to 99-94. Despite late efforts to whittle down the deficit, the Hawks would eventually pull out a five point win.
The Setters return to action on Saturday, January 16 when they take the road to face the St. Michael's College Purple Knights in a NE-10 game set for a 3:30 p.m. tip off in Colchester, VT.
