SETTERS CRUISE TO FIRST WIN OF SEASON OVER OWLS
NEW HAVEN, CT- Pace sophomore Adrian Mills (Woodbridge, VA/Paul VI) drained a game-high 22 points leading the Setters to a 83-70 victory over the Owls of Southern Connecticut State. The victory is Pace's first of the season, and improves their overall record to 1-2, and makes their record 1-1 in conference play. The loss for the Owls makes them fall to 0-5 overall and 0-2 in the Northeast-10 Conference.
The Setters would start the game on an 11-4 run to give them a solid lead. After the Owls sliced the deficit to four points, Pace would pull away once again eventually bringing their lead into double-digits.
A three pointer from Mills would bring the lead to 18 with three minutes remaining in the opening period. Southern Connecticut would trim the lead before the half ended as Pace would go into halftime with a 46-36 lead.
Despite having their lead cut to seven points midway through the second half, the Setters would put this game away with solid shooting as they shot 55% from the field in the second half, and 56% throughout the game leading to their 83-70 victory.
Along with Mills, the Setters saw a solid performance out of Ryan Woods (Staten Island, NY/St. Peter's Boys) scoring 18 points on 6-of-10 shooting. Freshman David Eismeier (Burke, VA/Bishop O'Connell) turned in a solid game dropping eleven points shooting 3-6 from three point land, and blocked three shots. Senior Laurence McGhee (Linden, NJ/Linden) was another offensive threat for Pace scoring twelve points and dishing out a team-high five assists.
The Setters will return to action on Sunday, November 29 when they travel to Albany, NY to take on NE-10 rival, the College of Saint Rose Golden Knights , set for a 3:30 pm tip-off.
