SETTERS FALL SHORT IN OVERTIME LOSS TO GOLDEN KNIGHTS

ALBANY, NY- The Pace University men's basketball team dropped a tough 91-89 Northeast-10 Conference battle against the College of St. Rose. The loss brings Pace's overall record to 1-3 and 1-2 in the NE-10, while the Golden Knights improve to 2-3 overall and 1-3 in conference play.

St. Rose gained an early advantage by starting the game with a 14-4 scoring run over Pace. The Setters would spend most of the first half rallying back from their deficit, and they would eventually tie things up at 26, when Ryan Woods (Staten Island, NY/St. Peter's Boys) made a layup on a fast break with five minutes remaining in the opening half. Less than a minute later, Adrian Mills (Woodbridge, VA/Paul VI) would sink another layup that would give Pace its first lead of the game. Pace would keep the lead until the final minute of the opening half, when St. Rose came back, taking a 40-37 lead at the half.

Just like the first half, the Setters were focusing on hanging on with the Golden Knights. Despite trailing, Pace was never down by more than six points. With a little over a minute remaining in regulation, the Setters would take a one point lead. The teams would battle to a tie at 76 in the final minute which led to the overtime period.

In the overtime period, Pace would get the early lead on a Carlos Howard (Fort Washington, MD/Gonzaga College High) three pointer. Unfortunately for the Setters, the Golden Knights would battle back to take the lead with less than two minutes remaining. While the Setters would tie the game with one minute to go, the Golden Knights used solid free throw shooting to get the lead and eventually the win.

Woods led the Setters offense by netting 23 points on 5-of-8 shooting from three point land.

David Eismeier (Burke, VA/Bishop O'Connell) drained 14 points on 4-of-7 from beyond the arc and totaled a team-high six rebounds in the game. Laurence McGhee (Linden, NJ/Linden) also had a solid performance with 15 total points, and a team-high eight assists.

The Setters will return to action on Wednesday, December 2 when they come home to face off against the Dolphins of Le Moyne College in a NE-10 game set for a 7:30 pm tip-off.
