SETTERS FIGHT FOR WIN OVER LIONS
Game 1- Saint Michael's 68, Dominican 65
PLEASANTVILLE, NY- The Purple Knights of Saint Michael's College defeated the Chargers of Dominican College by a 68-65 in the game's final seconds to kick off the men's portion of Pace's Holiday Classic. Saint Michael's improves to 4-5 overall on the season, while Dominican falls to 5-6.
For the Purple Knights, Tyler Schilling netted a game-high 22 points along with collecting a team-high nine rebounds. Travis Warech was also a solid performer for the Purple Knights, scoring 16 points of his own.
For the Chargers, Almin Hodzic had a double-double scoring eleven points, and taking down 13 boards. The Chargers also received a good performance from Gerald Hill who netted eleven points.
Game 2- Pace 67, Molloy 55
PLEASANTVILLE, NY- The Pace University men's basketball fought their way to a 67-55 win over non-conference opponent Molloy College on Day 1 of the Pace University Holiday Classic. The Setters improve to 6-4 overall, while the Lions of Molloy College fall to 4-7.
For the Setters, Laurence McGhee (Linden, NJ/Linden) netted a game-high 15 points (on 5-of-11 shooting), along with four rebounds and three steals. Ryan Woods (Staten Island, NY/St. Peter's Boys) also had a solid game, by draining 13 points, and recording a team-high eight rebounds.
For the Lions, Ian Thomas-Minor led the offensive attack with a team-high 13 points along with collecting nine rebounds. Brian Hutchinson totaled a game-high ten rebounds in the contest.
Day Two of the Pace University Holiday Classic concludes on Tuesday, December 29 as Saint Michael's will play Molloy at 4:00 pm, while the Setters will take on Dominican at 8:00 pm at the Goldstein Fitness Center on Pace's Pleasantville campus.
