GOLF PLACES SIXTH AT THE 2008 GOLDEY-BEACOM INVITATIONAL
AVONDALE, PA - The Pace University men's golf team shot a two-day team score of 619 (310-309) +43 to finish in sixth place in the 16-team field Goldey-Beacom College Invitational, which was held at the Hartefeld National Golf Course in Avondale, PA this past Monday and Tuesday, March 31st-April 1st. Millersville University won the event with a team score of 598 (300-298) +22.
Leading the way for Pace was junior Matt Hurlihy (Croton, NY/Croton) who finished tied for sixth with a score of 149 (71-78) +5. Hurlihy's day one score of 71 tied him for both the daily low round and daily leader. Gavin Smith of Indiana University of Pennsylvania won the 81-player individual event with a score of 147 (77-70) +3. Smith's day two score of 70 was the daily low round and daily leader.
Freshman Matt Dziubina (Shelton, CT/Shelton) finished in a tie for 24th place with a score of 155 (81-74) +11, while senior Bill DeLucia (Hamden, CT/Notre Dame) (81-76) posted a score of 157 +13, tying him for 31st place.
Senior Mike Dominici (Norwalk, CT/BMHS) finished the day with a score of 158 (76-82) +14, freshman Kent St. Charles (Wells, ME/Wells) followed with a score of 160 (84-76) +16 and senior Dan Psinakis (East Meadow, NY/East Meadow) rounded out Pace's finish with a score of 163 (82-81) +19.
Pace will next be in action on Sunday - Monday, April
6th & 7th, when the Setters travel to
Long Island National Golf Course in Riverhead, NY to take part in
the 4th Annual Peter King Memorial hosted by Dowling
College.
