GOLF EARNS AT-LARGE BID TO NCAA DIVISION II GOLF CHAMPIONSHIPS
PLEASANTVILLE, NY - The Pace University men's golf team has been selected to participate in the 2008 NCAA Division II Men's Golf Championships, as the Setters have received the fourth seed in the eight-team Northeast Region. The Northeast/East Super Regional is scheduled to take place May 5-7 at St. Anne's Golf Club in Middletown, Delaware. Wilmington University will serve as the hosts.
The championship field is comprised of 80 teams and 50 individual golfers from 10 regions that are split into five super regionals (Northeast/East, Atlantic/Southeast, Great Lakes/Central, South/South Central, West/Northwest). The top team from each region within the super regional and the top individual not with a team from each super regional, regardless of region, will advance to the finals May 14-17 at the Division II Spring National Championships Festival in Houston, Texas. Rice University and the Harris County-Houston Sports Authority will host the finals.
Senior Dan Psinakis (East Meadow, NY/East
Meadow), a Northeast-10 All-Conference Second Team member,
is leading the way for Pace carding a 77 over 11 events and 23
rounds of golf on the season. Classmate Michael Dominici
(Norwalk, CT/BMHS) has also been solid
this season for Pace shooting a 77.09 on the year, while freshman
Matt Dziubina (Shelton, CT/Shelton) has made an
immediate impact with a 77.39 on the season. Another newcomer that
has made his presence felt has been junior transfer Matt
Hurlihy (Croton, NY/Croton), who is carding a 78 in Pace's
last 10 rounds of action.
