GOLF FALLS ONE STROKE SHY OF NCAA NORTHEAST REGIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP

MIDDLETOWN, DE - The Pace University men's golf team fell one stroke short of winning the eight-team Northeast Regional and advancing to the 2008 NCAA Division II Men's Golf Championships. The Setters shot a +65 917 (303-302-312) for the three-day regional, just one stroke behind Northeast-10 Conference foe Bryant University, who shot a +64 916 (300-303-313) to win the regional and advance to the championship finals. Saint Thomas Aquinas College +68 920 and Post University +84 936 rounded out the top four.

Senior Mike Dominici (Norwalk, CT) led Pace shooting a +15 228 (83-73-72) to finish tied for fourth place. Brian Mackey of Dominican College, playing as an individual competitor, won the individual field of 45 golfers with a +9 222 (73-69-80) to advance to the finals of the NCAA Championships.

Freshman Matt Dziubina (Shelton, CT) also posted a top-10 finish for the Setters carding a +17 230 (76-77-77) to place ninth in the regional, while senior Bill DeLucia (Hamden, CT) finished in a tie for 18th with a +22 235 (75-79-81).

Senior Dan Psinakis (East Meadow, NY) and junior Matt Hurlihy (Croton, NY) rounded out the three-day regional for Pace shooting a +23 236 (78-76-82) and a +25 238 (74-76-88), respectively.
