Frank Graniero enters his second season as the Head Golf Coach at Pace and is also currently serving as the Head Golf Professional and Director of Golf at Hollow Brook Golf Club in Cortlandt Manor, NY. Mr. Graniero was elected to the PGA of America in 1988 and has remained a member in good standing since that time.
In 1987 Frank Graniero accepted the Head Golf Professional position at Elmwood Country Club (White Plains, NY) where he managed the golf department and taught golf for ten years. In 1997 he was hired by Donald Trump to run the golf program at Briar Hall CC (Briarcliff Manor, NY) and help transform the property into Trump National GC. Mr. Graniero was appointed Director of Golf at Manhattan Woods GC (West Nyack, NY) in 2002 before his most recent employment at Hollow Brook GC in 2005.
Mr. Graniero graduated first in his class at the PGA Business School in Destin, Florida and was presented with the National PGA Academic Achievement Award by President Mickey Powell. Two years later, he was the low qualifier in the PGA playability test (PAT) with a record score of six under par (72-66) at Racebrook Country Club in Milford, CT.
Mr. Graniero gained valuable experience as an Assistant Greens Superintendent at Valley View Golf Club (Utica, NY) while earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Business at the University of Tampa. Frank Graniero was the captain of his college and high school golf teams compiling an outstanding playing record of 79 wins and 3 losses.
Mr. Graniero is passionate about teaching golf and appeals to players of all skill levels. He enjoys introducing basic swing mechanics to new golfers as well as working with the most advanced tour players. Frank believes that his extensive training as an "Authorized Club Fitter" has been extremely beneficial to himself and his students. Mr. Graniero professes that the proper golf equipment is essential in order to develop a sound swing. In 1988, he founded the "Junior Golf Club Program" at Elmwood Country Club and has since taken a special interest in helping young golfers to better understand the golf swing, rules, and etiquette associated with this great game. Recently, Frank has worked with Titleist fitness instructor Dana D'Alessandro to help golfers become stronger and more flexible through rigid exercise programs. In 2008, Mr. Graniero was instrumental in bringing the First Tee Program to Hollow Brook Golf Club.
In addition to teaching golf, Mr. Graniero has remained very competitive and plays regularly in PGA golf tournaments. "Although the needs of our members come first, I always look forward to playing in golf tournaments. I strongly feel this type of competition is essential for player development and long-term improvement."
"The responsibilities of a Golf Professional are extremely diversified, however that is what makes the position so interesting." Mr. Graniero has recently been involved with several golf course renovation projects. Working closely with golf course architects and construction professionals has given him the opportunity to broaden his knowledge and appreciation for the many new technical advances in agronomy. Mr. Graniero has studied under many talented architects including: Tom Fazio, Stephen Kay, Arthur Hills, Ken Dye and Eric Bergstol.
Frank Graniero resides in Yorktown Heights, New York with his
wife Pamela and their three children: Nicole, Frank Jr., and
Stephen.
