QUARTER SETON HILL RALLY 10-9
SHEPPARD NETS GAME-WINNER LATE IN THE GAME
GREENBURG, PA- Jake Sheppard (Brunswick East, Melbourne, Victoria, Australia/Northcote) netted the game-winner as the Setters held off a furious fourth quarter rally by the Griffins of Seton Hill University to post their first victory of the season 10-9. Pace improves to 1-2 on the season, while the Griffins fall to 2-2.
Pace took an early lead over Seton Hill, leading 2-0 after the opening quarter and pulled ahead with 5-2 at halftime. The Setters dominated the third quarter, netting four scores to the Griffins two goals to take a 9-4 lead heading into the final quarter. The Griffins rallied with four unanswered goals to slice their deficit to 9-8 late in the game. Sheppard would keep the Setters ahead, netting the eventual game-winner late in the contest. Seton Hill answered with a goal of their own, making it 10-9 but could not come up with the equalizer as the Setters held on for a thrilling first win off the season.
For Pace, Sheppard lead the way with four points (2G, 2A), while T.J. Urban (Kinnelon, NJ/Kinnelon) totaled three points (2G, 1A). James Hammel (North Caldwell, NJ/West Essex) and Joe Arlotta (Garden City Park, NY/St. Mary's) netted a pair of goals each for the Setters. In net, Timothy Matheis (Lindenhurst, NY/Lindenhurst) recorded 15 saves in just over 58 minutes of action to earn his first win of the season.
Pace returns to action when they travel to Erie, PA for a non-conference game against Mercyhurst College at 4:00 pm on Tuesday, March 17.
