#5 MERCYHURST TOPS SETTERS 14-3
ERIE, PA- The Setters fell to #5 ranked Mercyhurst College Lakers 14-3 in non-conference action on Pace's road-trip finale. The Lakers improve to 3-1 overall, while the Setters fall to 1-3 on the season.
Mercyhurst opened up the game scoring first four goals and led 4-0 after the opening quarter. T.J. Urban (Kinnelon, NJ/Kinnelon) opened the second quarter with a goal at the 14:15 mark off an assist by Kevin Kadlick (Boston, MA/Catholic Memorial). The Lakers would close out the quarter with four unanswered goals to take an 8-1 lead into halftime.
The Lakers would add two goals early in the third quarter before Kadlick netted a man-up goal to make the score 10-2 at the 10:18 mark. Mercyhurst would respond with four unanswered goals to take a 14-2 lead late in the fourth quarter. James Hammel (North Caldwell, NJ/West Essex) would tack on a late goal for Pace to account for the final score.
In net, Timothy Matheis (Lindenhurst, NY/Lindenhurst) recorded 16 saves in just over 57 minutes.
Pace returns to action when they travel to Manchester, NH as the Setters open their Northeast-10 Conference slate with a NE-10 clash against the Penmen of Southern New Hampshire on Saturday, March 21 at 1:00 pm.
