CLINTON, S.C. - Presbyterian College picked up a pair of
wins over Pace University 6-1, 9-0 on Wednesday afternoon in
college softball action at the PC Softball Complex. The Lady Blue
Hose improve to 16-21 on the season, while the Setters fall to 0-4
on the year.

Ford (Marietta, Ga.) and juniorJessica
Peterka (Sarasota, Fla.) each hit a three-run homer to
lead the Lady Blue Hose to a 6-1 victory over the Setters in the
first game of the doubleheader.
Ford gave PC a 3-0 lead in the first with her three-run shot that
scored sophomoreLindsay Wismer (Sarasota, Fla.)
and juniorRachel Bailey (Howard, OH). Pace got on
the scoreboard in the fourth when seniorMichelle
Brigham (Unionville, NY) singled in juniorCarlyn
Krause (Staten Island, NY) to trim the lead to 3-1. The
Lady Blue Hose put the cap on the game in the fifth as Peterka's
three-run blast left the yard, scoring Ford and Wismer to give PC a
6-1 advantage.
SeniorOlivia Hazel (Chesapeake, Va.) picked up her
first win of the season for PC after throwing a complete game
four-hitter allowing one unearned run and striking out five. Pace's
juniorJulia Hunt (Mahopac, NY) took the loss to
drop to 0-2 on the season after going six innings, allowing six
runs on nine hits with four walks and three strikeouts.
Ford went three-for-four at the plate, while Peterka went
two-for-three at the plate as both players tallied three RBI each.
Pace had four players who each tallied a hit in the game.
Game #2 - Presbyterian 9, Pace 0 (five innings)
Presbyterian College's freshmanErin
Stewart (Marion, S.C.) threw a one-hit shutout and tallied
four strikeouts to lead the Lady Blue Hose to a 9-0 victory over
the Setters. Stewart improves to 3-4 on the season with today's
victory.
The Lady Blue Hose scored six runs in the first inning highlighted
by an RBI doubles from juniorRachel Bailey
(Howard, OH) and seniorHaley Brooks (Tifton, Ga.)
along with RBI singles from freshmanAshley Ford
(Marietta, Ga.), juniorJessica Peterka (Sarasota,
Fla.), and seniorSamantha Slater (Westerville,
OH).
Ford increased the lead to 7-0 in the bottom of the second after
stealing home on a double steal as sophomoreLindsay
Wismer (Sarasota, Fla.) stole second. In the fourth,
Wismer scored on a bases loaded walk followed by a Ford scoring on
a wild pitch two batters later.
Ford went two-for-three at the plate with three runs scored, while
freshmanLaura Tate (Spartanburg, S.C.) also went
two-for-three. Pace's Krause picked up the team's lone hit of the
second game.
