Pace knotted the score at one in their half of the second as Patricia Hurley (Assonet, MA/Apponequet) drew a leadoff walk and moved to second on a passed ball. Hurley advanced to third on a single by Kelly Kinyon (Levittown, PA/Harry S. Truman) and scored on a sacrifice fly by Alton Frisbie (Indian Hills, CO/Conifer). The River Hawks took the lead in the third, hitting a pair of two-run homeruns. UMass Lowell tacked on another unearned run in the sixth, taking advantage of the Setters' third error of the afternoon.
On the hill, Kiryl Shada (Pleasant Prairie, WI/Tremper) tossed a complete game, allowing eight hits and six runs (three earned), while fanning four to drop her record to 4-6 on the season.
In Game 2, Pace was limited to six hits, with Christina Pane's (Stony Point, NY/Cardinal Spellman) double being the lone extra base hit. The River Hawks scored two runs in the second, three in the fourth and hit a grand slam homerun in the sixth that ended game.
On the mound, Kim Troiano (Lindenhurst, NY/Lindenhurst) started, pitching five innings, allowing 10 hits and five runs, to drop her record to an even 2-2. Julia Hunt (Mahopac, NY/Mahopac) came on in relief in the sixth, allowing the game-ending grand slam.
