NORTHEAST-10 CONFERENCE ANNOUNCES
SOFTBALL ALL-ACADEMIC TEAMS
SHADA, BRYANT, KETCHEL NAMED TO ALL-ACADEMIC TEAMS
SOUTH EASTON, MA - The Northeast-10 Conference has announced the members of the 2007 Softball All-Academic Team. To be eligible for selection to the academic teams, a student-athlete must have met and/or exceeded the following minimum requirements: 1) participated in at least half of the team's competitions and be either a starter or significant contributor; 2) achieved a 3.2 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale); and 3) completed at least one academic year at his/her current institution. The Northeast-10 All-Academic Teams are chosen by a vote of the Northeast-10 Sports Information Directors.
Sophomore Kiryl Shada (Pleasant Prairie, WI/Tremper) (3.61 GPA/Psychology) was named to the Northeast-10 Conference Softball All-Academic First Team, while classmate Jessica Bryant (Brownstown, IN/Brownstown) (3.61 GPA/Psychology) and junior Dana Jo Ketchel (Staten Island, NY/Moore Catholic) (3.38 GPA/Childhood Education) were both named to the All-Academic Third Team.
Shada has been the anchor of the Pace pitching staff this season leading the team in ERA (2.44), wins (9), innings pitched (117.2), opposing batters average (.266), strikeouts (79), appearances (20), games started (18), complete games (16) and shutouts (3).
Bryant has started in 22 of 29 games played this season for Pace. She is hitting .229 at the plate and has been solid in the field posting a .952 fielding percentage.
Ketchel has played in all 33 games she has played in so far on
the season and is batting .298 at the plate with 13 RBI's and 13
runs scored. She is tied for third on the team in hits with 28.
