SETTERS DROP DOUBLEHEADER TO MERRIMACK
NORTH ANDOVER, MA- The Pace softball team lost a Northeast-10 Conference twin bill to Merrimack College, 3-2 and 6-1. The Setters fall to 12-26 overalll and 3-18 in conference play.
The Setters were held scoreless for the first five innings, while the Warriors put up a pair of runs in the third of the opener. Back to back one-out singles by Amanda Dague and Patricia Hurley in the sixth got the Setters' rally started. Both runners moved up a base on a wild pitch and Dague scored the first Pace on a sac fly to caught by the second baseman in the outfield.
A leadoff homerun by Merrimack in the sixth gave the Warriors a two run lead. In the Setters' last at-bat, Tricia Allutto led off with a single and was pinch run for by Hyra Kameraj. Kameraj would steal second reach third on a wild pitch. Kameraj scored on a one-out groundout. Carolyn Krause kept the Setters rally alive, ripping a single to right but the Warriors recorded the final out and escape with a one run victory.
Kiryl Shada went the distance, allowing five hits and three runs, while fanning five.
In the nightcap, the Setters were limited to five hits and a lone run that was produced in the sixth when Christina Pane had a lead off single, stole second, advancing to third on the catcher's throwing error and scored on Hurley's single.
The Setters return to action on Friday, April 27,
when they travel to Albany, NY to take on Northeast-10 opponent
Saint Rose in a doubleheader scheduled to start at 5 pm.
