SHADA'S FOUR-HITTER GIVES SOFTBALL A TWIN BILL SPLIT
BRIARCLIFF, NY- Kiryl Shada (Pleasant Prairie, WI/Tremper) tossed a five-hit shutout in the nightcap giving the Setters a split of a doubleheader with Assumption on Senior Day. The Greyhounds took the opener, 6-3, while the Setters won game two 4-0. The Setters move their record to 17-29 and 8-18 in the NE-10, while the Greyhounds are now 10-34 and 5-21 in conference play.
In the opener, Setters senior Julia Hunt (Mahopac, NY/Mahopac) started, tossing a complete game only allowing a pair of runs through six innings. The Setters scored a run in the second and teams exchanged runs in the fourth and fifth as Pace took a 3-2 lead into the seventh. The Greyhounds rallied with two outs, scoring four runs in the inning to pick up the win.
Senior Carolyn Krause (Staten Island, NY/Tottenville) went 1-for-3 with a run scored, while Patricia Hurley (Assonet, MA/Apponequet) and Hunt each collected a pair of hits in the game.
In the nightcap, the Setters cruised as Shada stymied the Greyhound offense, only surrendering five hits and striking out seven in her dominating performance. Christina Pane (Stony Point, NY/Cardinal Spellman) went 3-for-4 and scored a run, while Hunt went 1-for-3 with a run scored and RBI.

VT to take on Northeast-10 Conference opponent Saint Michael's
College on Wednesday, May 2.
