PACE OPENS SEASON WITH SWEEP OF ST. AUGUSTINE'S

RALEIGH, NC- The Pace women's softball team opened up the 2008 season with a pair of blowout wins over St. Augustine's, taking the first game 10-0 and winning the nightcap 12-0. The Setters open up at 2-0 on the season, while St. Augustine's drops to 2-10 on the season.

The Setters dominated the double dip as Amanda Dague (Spring, TX/Klein Collins) went 3-for-4 in the twin bill with a double, while driving in two runs and scoring four times. Kerri McLean (Woodhaven, NY/Archbishop Molloy) collected a pair of hits and drove in one run, while crossing the plate three times. Christina Pane (Stony Point, NY/Cardinal Spellman) batted 3-for-6 on the day with a triples, three RBIs, and four runs scored. Alton Frisbie (Indian Hills, CO/Conifer) posted a team-high five RBIs in the two games and scored three runs.

On the mound, Kiryl Shada (Pleasant Prairie, WI/Tremper) pitched a complete game five inning shutout in the opener, allowing only two hits and struck out eight to pick up the win. In the second game, Alicia Parlon (Norton, MA/ Norton) started, tossing three innings, giving up two hits and fanning five, earning her first collegiate win. Classmate Christina Rescigno (Elmsford, NY/Good Counsel Academy) closed out the final two innings, allowing one hit and struck out two.

Pace returns to action when they travel to Mt. Olive, NC to take on Mt. Olive College on Tuesday, March 18 for a non-conference twin bill scheduled for 4 pm.
