KIRYL SHADA NAMED NE-10 PITCHER OF THE WEEK
Patricia Hurley Named to Weekly Honor Roll
SOUTH EASTON, MA - Pace University junior outfielder Christina Pane (Stony Point, NY/Cardinal Spellman) has been named the Northeast-10 Conference Softball Player of the Week, while classmate Kiryl Shada (Pleasant Prairie, WI/Tremper) has been named the NE-10 Conference Softball Pitcher of the Week, for the week ending March 23rd. Another junior, Patricia Hurley (Assonet, MA/Apponequet), was also honored for her efforts this past week being named to the Weekly Honor Roll.
Pane batted an even .500 (15-for-30) with 11 runs scored, seven RBI's, four triples and was 3-for-3 in stolen bases for the week that saw the Setters sweep three doubleheaders. In an opening day two game sweep over Saint Augustine College, Pane went 3-for-6 with four runs scored, three RBI's and a triple, while going 2-for-6 in two games against Mount Olive College. In a sweep over Barton College, Pane went 3-for-8 with two runs scored, one RBI and a double and in a sweep over Virginia State University, she went 7-for-10 with five runs scored, three RBI's, two triples and three stolen bases.
Shada posted a 2-1 record with a 2.33 ERA for the week, allowing seven runs (six earned) and 16 hits, while striking out 19 in 18 innings pitched. In a win over St. Augustine, Shada tossed a complete game two hitter with eight strikeouts in five innings. Coming against Mt. Olive, she pitched six innings, allowing nine hits and four runs (three earned), while striking out two and in a victory over Virginia State, Shada pitched a complete game five hitter allowing three runs and striking out nine.
Hurley batted .379 (11-for-29) with three RBI's and six runs scored, while also stealing a pair of bases.
Pace (6-2) will be back in action tomorrow, Wednesday, March
26th, as the Setters will play host to Caldwell College
in a non-conference twin bill. First pitch is scheduled for 3:00
p.m.
