SOFTBALL SPLITS TWIN BILL WITH SOUTHERN CONNECTICUT
NEW HAVEN, CT - Christina Pane (Stony Point, NY/Cardinal Spellman) went 6-for-8 in the doubleheader, including a perfect 4-for-4 in the game one 8-5 win to lead the Setters to a split against Southern Connecticut in Northeast-10 Conference softball action. The Setters move their record to 10-8 overall and 2-4 in the NE-10, while the Owls are now 8-17 and 1-3 in conference play.
In the opener, the Setters pounded out 11 hits as Pane had four, while Patricia Hurley (Assonet, MA/Apponequet) and Missy Dubey (Middlefield, CT/Coginchaug Regional) each had two. Pane scored three times in the game, while Hurley and Sarah Meleney (Rockville, MD/Richard Montgomery) came home twice each. Meleney also chipped in three RBIs to pace the Setters. On the hill, Kiryl Shada (Pleasant Prairie, WI/Tremper) (5-3) tossed a complete game allowing 10 hits, five runs (three earned), while striking out four.
The Setter offense stayed hot in the nightcap, posting 10 hits but were limited to four runs as they fell 5-4 in a tight game. Hurley led the Setters going 3-for-4 with two RBIs and a run scored, while Pane went 2-for-4 with two runs scored. On the mound for Pace, Alicia Parlon (Norton, MA/Norton) started, going the first three innings, allowing four runs on five hits, while striking out one. Christina Rescigno (Elmsford, NY/Good Counsel Academy) tossed the final three innings, allowing one run on three hits, dropping her season record to 2-2 on the season.

Northeast-10 Conference doubleheader scheduled for a 3:00 pm start
on Pace's Briarcliff campus.
