SAINT ROSE TOPS SETTERS IN DOUBLEHEADER 2-1;1-0

ROTTERDAM, NY- The Pace softball team was limited to seven hits as the Setters dropped a pair of games to the Golden Knights of Saint Rose. The Golden Knights took the opener 2-1 and completed the sweep, winning the nightcap 1-0. The Setters drop to 5-6 overall and 0-2 in the NE-10, while Saint Rose improves to 6-6 and 2-0 in conference play.

In the opener, Saint Rose struck first as Amanda Morano (Highland, NY) connected on a two-run homerun to put the Golden Knights in the lead. The Setters got on the board in the third as Missy Dubey (Middlefield, CT/Coginchaug Regional) doubled with one out and moved to third on a single by Amanda Dague (Houston, TX/Klein Collins). Dubey would scored on a fielder's choice by Christina Pane (Stony Point, NY/Cardinal Spellman) to make the score 2-1. The Setters could not come up with the equalizer and fell in the opener 2-1.

On the mound, Kiryl Shada (Pleasant Prairie, WI/Tremper) (3-3) tossed a complete game, allowing two runs on four hits, while fanning four.

In the nightcap, Pace was limited to two hits as Pane and Patricia Hurley (Assonet, MA/Apponequet) accounted for Setters hits on the nightcap. On the hill, Christina Rescigno (Elmsford, NY/Good Counsel Academy) (0-1) pitched her first complete game of the season, allowing one unearned run on four hits.  

Pace is back in action on Saturday, March 28 when the Setters will kick off their home schedule with a Northeast-10 Conference doubleheader against the Purple Knights of Saint Michael's at Pace's Briarcliff campus. First pitch is scheduled for 11:00 am.
