SHADA DOMINATES OPENER ENROUTE TO SETTER SWEEP OVER FRANKLIN PIERCE
HURLEY'S TWO RBI'S IN NIGHTCAP SEALS THE DEAL IN WIN

BRIARCLIFF, NY- Kiryl Shada (Pleasant Prairie, WI/Tremper) tossed a two-hit shutout, while fanning nine in the Setters' 3-0 win in the opener of a doubleheader against Franklin Pierce. Pace completed the sweep in the nightcap, winning 4-3 behind a pair of RBIs by Patricia Hurley (Assonet, MA/Apponequet). The Setters improve to 14-13 overall and 8-4 in the Northeast-10, while the Ravens drop to 4-22 and 0-12 in conference play.

In the opener, Shada (8-6) threw a two-hit complete game shutout, while striking out nine batters leading the Setters to victory. Victoria Palleschi (Glenville, NY/Burnt Hills) scored on a throwing error in the second inning, while Nicole Schultheis (Bethpage, NY/Bethpage) ripped a two-run double to left field to give the Setters some insurance runs.

In the nightcap, the Setters got strong performance from Christina Pane (Stony Point, NY/Cardinal Spellman) who went 3-for-4 with a run scored and an RBI as well as from Hurley who went 2-for-4 with a pair of RBIs. Hurley had an RBI single in the first to score Pane with the first run of the game for Pace, while doubling in the third inning. Lauren Bell (New Windsor, NY/Newburgh Free) drove in Hurley in the third with a single up the middle.

The Ravens would push a run across in the fifth, but Pace answered in the sixth as Pane lined a double to right center to put the Setters up 4-1. Franklin Pierce would rally for a pair of runs in the seventh but Setter starter Christina Rescigno (Elmsford, NY/Good Counsel Academy) closed the door on the Ravens rally to complete the sweep.

On the mound, Rescigno (2-3) tossed a complete game, allowing three runs on six hits, while striking out five.

Pace is back in action on Wednesday, April 15 when the Setters will host the Panthers of Adelphi University for a non-conference doubleheader scheduled for a 3:00 pm start at Pace's Briarcliff campus.
