PACE HAS FOUR PLAYERS RECEIVE ALL-CONFERENCE HONORS
SOUTH EASTON, MA - The Pace University softball team had four players receive individual honors to officially wrap up their 2009 season. Senior Christina Pane (Stony Point, NY/Cardinal Spellman) led the way for Pace as she was named to the NE-10 All-Conference First Team. Fellow seniors Kiryl Shada (Pleasant Prairie, WI/Tremper) and Patricia Hurley (Assonet, MA/Apponequet) were named to the NE-10 All-Conference Second Team. Nicole Schultheis (Bethpage, NY/Bethpage) wrapped up the postseason awards as she made the NE-10 All-Rookie Team for the Setters.
Pane this season has batted .349, along with 29 runs scored, 17 RBIs and eight stolen bases. For her career, she has posted 191 hits, 109 runs scored, 43 stolen bases and is a career .340 hitter. In Pace history, she ranks 4th in runs, hits and stolen bases, and is tied for third in triples with 13.
On the season Shada is 13-12 with a 2.22 ERA along with 125 strikeouts and 20 complete games. She ranks in the top-10 in the conference in wins, ERA, strikeouts and innings pitched. For her career, she is 49-37 with a 2.17 ERA, with 430 strikeouts, 74 complete games and 15 shutouts. In Pace history, she ranks second in wins, shutouts and strikeouts, fourth in complete games, and sixth in ERA.
Hurley has had her best season this year with a .378 batting average, six homeruns and 36 RBIs, good for top-six in the Northeast-10 Conference in those categories. For her career, she has posted a .306 batting average, 172 hits, eight homeruns, 92 RBIs and 76 runs scored. She ranks 8th in hits, and eighth in RBIs in Pace University history.
Schultheis had an excellent rookie campaign as she led the team in average batting .380 for the season. She started in 38 games on the year for Pace. She scored 21 runs, recorded 35 hits, and finished the season with 43 total bases. Schultheis also led the team in on-base percentage reaching base just over 44% of the time on the year.
Pace finished the season with a 21-25 record overall, and 15-13 in the NE-10 Conference. They were ousted as the #6 seed in the first round of the playoffs by the score of 2-1 by #5 seed Southern Connecticut.
