SOFTBALL ANNOUNCES INCOMING RECRUITING CLASS

PLEASANTVILLE, NY- The Pace University Softball team under the direction of Head Coach Claudia Stabile announces her incoming recruiting class for the 2011 season.

Lana Buchbinder (San Francisco, Calif) - Buchbinder comes to Pace from George Washington High School where she was a three-time First Team All-City selection as a middle infielder. She won the Saul Madfes Scholar Athlete as well as the George Washington High School Female Athlete of the Year in her senior year. She led her team to the AAA League Championship as well as the Transbay Softball Series Title in 2010. Buchbinber was an honor roll student throughout her four years, finishing with 3.32 GPA. Summer Team: San Jose Strikkers. Business Major

Kim Duffy (North Babylon, N.Y.) - Duffy comes off a solid career at North Babylon High School as she played center field and second base. She batted .320 in high school and posted a .995 fielding percentage. Duffy was named to the All-League team in her senior year.  Summer Team: Breezy's Angels. Chemistry  Major

Sabrina Gonzalez (Oxnard, Calif) - Gonzalez joins the Setters as a transfer from Ventura College, where she was a two-time First Team Western State Conference selection as an outfielder. She was the 2009 WSC Player of the Year, while leading her team to the WSC Championship in 2010. Summer Softball Camp Instructor. Physical Therapy Major

Samantha Garcia (Rancho Cucamonga, Calif.) - Garcia was a versatile player at Rancho Cucamonga High School and earned the Best Defensive Player Award as a senior.  A member of the Principal's Honor Roll she has experience at shortstop, third base and outfield. Summer Team: Southern Cal Rebels Gold. Undecided  Major

Rachel McMahon (Anaheim, Calif.)- McMahon played first base and third base as a four-year member of Esperanza High School in Anaheim. As a senior, McMahon helped lead her team to the Sunset League title. She excelled in the classroom as well earning a Presidential Letter for Outstanding in Academics and Sports as well as a the President's Award for Excellence for Outstanding, Academic Excellence and Honor Roll.  Summer Team: Corona Xpress Gold. Journalism/Sports Broadcasting Major

Michelle Ngwafon (Rockville, Md.) - Ngwafon joins the Pace squad with the ability to play the outfield as well as first base and pitcher. She was named offensive MVP as a senior while her summer team finished in second place. In the classroom, Ngwafon won the model student-athlete award. Summer Team: Red Raiders. Psychology Major

Nicole Pellegrino (Smithtown, N.Y.) - Pellegrino comes to the Setters following a four-year career at Smithtown West High School. She batted .419 for her high school career with a .506 on base percentage. As a senior, she was named All-County as well as earning NFCA Second Team All-Region honors. Summer Team: Long Island Express Gold Elite. Nursing Major
