WOMEN'S SWIMMING SPLITS OPPONENTS WHILE MEN'S DROP TWO MATCHES IN TRI-MEET ON SENIOR DAY
PLEASANTVILLE, NY- The Pace women's swimming team came out victorious in a one portion of a tri-meet beating out Ramapo College 97-40, but lost to the other school in the meet, the University of Bridgeport 74-61. The men's team fell to both schools. Ramapo beat out Pace 89-29, and Bridgeport also beat the Setters 41-34.
The women's side of Pace's team was led by Jenna Wood (Fairport, NY/Fairport) who ended the meet with first and second place finishes. Wood finished first in the 500-yard Freestyle (5:22.01) and placed second in the 100-yard Backstroke (1:02.76).
Along with Wood, Callie Grace (Dalton, MA/Miss Hall's) also finished in first place with a win in the 200 yard IM (2:22.46). Grace also came in second place for the 100 yard Breaststroke (1:10.41), and in third for the 100 yard Freestyle (56.28).
Deveney Zebrowski (Hewitt, NJ/Academy of Saint Elizabeth) finished in second for the 200 yard Backstroke with a time of 2:19.79, and also came in third for the 50 yard Freestyle with a 26.55 time.
Laeh Yang-Dipietro (New Rochelle, NY/Good Counsel Academy) finished first in the 200-yard Butterfly (2:26.77).
Chelsea Oberhauser (Cream Ridge, NJ/Notre Dame HS) placed third in the 200-yard Backstroke (2:24.53), while teammate Kathleen Black (Dedham, MA/Hartwick College) also had a third place finish of her own in the 500-yard Freestyle.
In the relays, the quartet of Wood, Zebrokwski, Oberhauser, and Alicia Holzer (Cromwell, CT/Cromwell) place first in the 200-yard Freestyle relay for a combined time of 1:47.60.
In diving, Cassandra Gentile (Cortland, Manor/Walter Panas) finished in first for the 1M and 3M diving events. Gentile scored a 220.05 in the 1M, and a 232.50 in the 3M. Randi Kelder (Kingston, NY/Kingston) finished second in both the 1M (212.20) and 3M (209.78) events.
For the men, Kevin Dickson (Coldingham, Scotland/Wallace High) placed second in the 200-yard Freestyle (1:50.39), and the 50 yard Freestyle (23.00).
Christiaan Van Zyl (Dubai, United Arab Emirates/Dubai American Academy) had a second place finish of his own in the 100-yard Freestyle with a time of 49.94.
The Setters return to action on Friday, February 5 when they travel to Southern Connecticut State University to compete in the Northeast-10 Championships.
