MEN'S/WOMEN'S SWIMMING BOTH FALL TO VASSAR
POUGHKEEPSIE, NY- The Pace women's swimming team suffered their first loss of the season against Vassar College losing 174-118, while the men's team also fell to Vassar 173-73 in a dual meet.
Jenna Wood (Fairport, NY/Fairport) was one of the top swimmers for the Setters finishing the meet with three first place finishes. Those finishes came in the 200-yard Butterfly (2:17.89), the 100-yard Freestyle (56.01) and the 200-IM (2:17.00).
Deveney Zebrowski (Hewitt, NJ/Academy of Saint Elizabeth) also had a solid performance against with three second place finishes in the 100-yard Backstroke (1:03.49), the 50-yard Freestyle (26.41) and the 500-yard Freestyle (5:46.17).
Callie Grace (Dalton, MA/Miss Hall's) and Chelsea Oberhauser (Cream Ridge, NJ/Notre Dame HS) each finished the meet with two second place finishes. Grace finished second in the 200-yard Freestyle (2:04.46) and the 200-yard Breaststroke (2:40.19). Oberhauser took her second place finishes in the 200-yard Butterfly (2:30.72) and the 200-yard Backstroke (2:20.76).
The top performer for the men against Vassar was Kevin Dickson (Coldingham, Scotland/Wallace High) placed first in three events. The first place finishes came in the 200-yard Freestyle (1:48.24), 100-yard Freestyle (48.96), and the 100-yard Butterfly (54.23) events.
Christiaan Van Zyl (Dubai, United Arab Emirates/Dubai American Academy) saw second place finishes in the 50-yard Freestyle (23.58), and the 100-yard Backstroke (57.65). John Nelson (Cortlandt Manor, NY/Westchester Community College) also saw second place finishes in the 200-yard Breaststroke (2:33.01) and the 100-yard Breaststroke (1:08.67)
The quartet of William King (Oakdale, NY/Connetquot), Nelson, Van Zyl and Dickson took home first place in the 200-yard Freestyle Relay event with a combined time of 1:34.99.
In diving, Cassandra Gentile (Cortland, Manor/Walter Panas) finished in first for the 1M and 3M diving events. Gentile scored a 221.77 in the 1M, and a 224.47 in the 3M. Randi Kelder (Kingston, NY/Kingston) finished second in both the 1M (208.27) and 3M (201.22) events.
Men's diver Eric Fletcher (Katonah, NY/John Jay-Cross River), placed second in both the 3M (153.52) dive, and the 1M dive (129.75).
The Setters return to action on Saturday, December 5 when they go to Bentley University in Waltham, MA for the Bentley Invitational which will be a two-day event.
