PACE TRACK AND FIELD TEAM'S COMPETE IN THE WAGNER COLLEGE TRACK AND FIELD INVITATIONAL

 

STATEN ISLAND, NY - The Pace University men's and women's track and field teams put up some solid showings as they competed in their second event of the season in the Wagner Invitational hosted on the campus of Wagner College.

The Pace men's team was led by senior Kency Gilet (Nanuet, NY/Nanuet) who finished in fourth place in the 400 Meter Hurdles with a time of 59.82. Gilet also competed in the 800 Meter Run finishing tied for 17th with a time of 2:14.38. Sam Asbeck (Manalapan, NJ/Manalapan) represented the Setters well in the long jump placing sixth in the event with a distance of 5.92 meters.

On the women's side the Setters were paced by sophomore Sarah Rodriguez (Ossining, NY/Our Lady of Victory) as she posted the best finish by any Pace athlete for the day with a third place finish in the 5000 Meter Run with a time of 21:25.42. Rodriguez had another top 15 finish on the day as she placed 15th in the 800 Meter Run with a time of 2:52.73. Aiyanna Spellman (Chesapeake, VA/Grassfield) also participated in the 100 M Dash which is the fastest women's event in the invitational. Spellman finished in 21st place with a time of 16.25.

The track and field team's will be back in action on Saturday, April 11 as they will be competing in the Swanson Invitational hosted by Wesleyan University in Middletown, CT.
